There is such a difference between being a student to a teacher, or being an assistant to a teacher. There is still a level of respect that must be given on both ends, however, coming back to Ms.Bech's class, there is a different relationship that has occurred.
Ms.Bech shows me how to properly do things such as vocabulary. I never knew there was a "correct" way to speak when pronouncing words, but now I do. She has shown me a teacher doesn't have to be dominant or submissive, but can be inbetween. You can have fun and humourous times with your students, but when it is time to be serious, they listen.
I believe I have shown another side to me aswell. I have shown I can be responsible and trustworthy with the children, and not act immature with them. I believe there is such a huge difference from being a student to an aid. You end up growing, sharing more personal stories or suggestions, etc. I get to talk to her about how I feel about the students, their strengths and weaknessess, their behaviours...
Overall, I think this is a great experience for everyone involved. You and your supervisor get to see another side of each other, usually for the better. I have positively been affected by this experience thanks to my host teacher and her teaching methods.
