Supplementary Task I
In the months I have been a peer tutor, I think I have developed the most positive relationships with two of the students in my class. These two individuals are all very different in many ways, but they have all had a positive impact on me.
The first student is a very bright student but he sometimes lacks confidence and claims to not enjoy French class. I think he is a really positive influence on his peers because he does his works and tries his best to understand the lessons. Though I am not sure why he lacks confidence in his French skills, I always try to help him out (even though sometimes he knows the answers faster than I do....). To boost his confidence, I remind him that he can help others because his understanding is very good. This student has had a positive impact on me in that he makes me realise why I enjoy helping other so much. He is nice, funny and always shows appreciation. He makes me want to work my hardest. I think I have had a positive impact on this student by boosting his confidence levels and encouraging him to get involved in an out-of-class event, the 24 hour wake.
The second student is a hardworker who always gets me laughing. Though French doesn't seem to click for him as naturally as it does for some others, he likes to learn and always asked for my help. I tried to help him with organization and remembering to use the tools available to him such as dictionaries or notes. This created a positive impact, because the student is sometimes able to answer his own questions using these tools instead of always asking for help. This student has had a positive impact on me because he was able to get me in a good mood every day, something which I have been tankful on a few mornings.
Once again, I think being a peer tutor is the best of both worlds: you get to teach and help others, but you also get to relate to your peers.
