The most satisfying experience for me as a peer tutor would be when the class would thank me for helping them and all I did was do more examples with them to make the concepts more concrete in their minds. This goes further as in the halls I would hear them talking about me saying that "Phil is the best tutor ever," hearing that made me feel really good about myself and only made me want to do more to help them. I decided that I would offer to help outside of class if they want to and some people did decide to find me.
For the class that I tutor, I don't recall there ever being any stress for me to reduce, but I did use some humour at times as a way to embarrass some of the students and that in turn makes them "learn by embarrassment". The embarrassment aspect would help them remember things easier on a test as they can recall the special moment when I embarrassed them.
